I was recently invited by LIA to provide a series of lectures and discussions
regarding "Eldercare and its Future in United States and Japan."

最近リエゾンに招かれて「日本とアメリカ合衆国の高齢者ケアと未来」
に関する講演や直接デイスカッションをする機会があった

It was a pleasure
meeting a variety of motivated Japanese professionals and community volunteers
in Nagoya, Tokyo and at the Kobe Institute -- affiliated with the prestigious Oxford University in England.

様々な意欲的な日本のプロフェッショナルや地域ボランテイアの方々と
名古屋、東京、そして　神戸Instituteーー世界に名声を誇る英国オクスフォード大学分校で
出合えたことは喜びであった

The subject of "Eldercare" is becoming more important in Japan as its society is increasingly impacted
by citizens living longer -- over 100 years --
while at the same time the national negative birth rate causes serious concern
about who will pay for care and services provided the elderly.

「高齢者ケアの問題」　は、国民の長寿化――100歳を超えるレベルーでー
によりますます影響を受けている日本社会において、著しく重要になってきている
同時に、日本における出生率の低下は、
「誰が介護のケアやサービスのお金を支払うのか」という
真剣に気懸りな問題を浮上させている

I was very impressed with LIA's outreach to various government and community leaders
-- as well as to volunteers of all ages
-- in motivating them to think about new ways to work with the elderly.

私自身は、リエゾンの様々なアウトリーチー：協働の行政人や、地域リーダーや、
すべての世代のボランテイアの方々に手が届いていることーー、
そして、それらの人々に新しい方法で考え、
高齢者と楽しもうと励ましていることに非常に感銘を受けた

Such new LIA concepts to enhance the elderly QOL included Wishworks　and providing discount programs for needed services,
retirement and nursing home visitations, health and cultural information sharing and interaction
among all to establish for each person a better "sense of self-worth"

そのようなリエゾンのコンセプトは、
Wishworks　「夢は叶う事業」に反映していて、
高齢者の生活の質を高め、低価格のプロジェクトや生活サービスの提供、
高齢者施設への訪問、医療や文化的情報を提供し、話し合うこととなど多岐にわたり、
同志の仲間との「協働」の中で、実際に関わったひとりひとりが
「自分自身の価値」に気づき、自分を高めることにつながっていく

Under the spirited leadership of Executive Director Kaori Yamada,
LIA has set an ambitious course to pursue ---
as you can see by reviewing the Mission Statement on this website.
LIA- as it stands for dedicated volunteers, all are to be commended for their commitment
to this very worthy cause to develop the "futre"

山田花織　代表理事の強い精神力とリーダーシップのもとで、
リエゾンは志の大きな　「追究の」　軌跡を描き始めたーー

理念から読み解けるように、
リエゾンーー献身するボランテイアの人材たちーーは、
この非常に価値の高い「理由ある行動」に
自分自身のもてるものを投じ、その行動そのもので
「未来」を　つくっていこうとしている　ということができよう

I encourage all who are interested in creating a better future society with the elderly to NOW
volunteer your time, talent and resources to work with LIA in its important work
... after-all, each of you will join the ranks of the "aged"
and will certainly value what LIA had accomplished

for our personal benefit...

私は、高齢者と共に　「もう少しいい未来社会を創造したい」すべての人に
あなたの時間、能力、持っているものを　「今」　投じて、リエゾンの仲間と「一緒に働く」ことを呼びかけたい
.... そうして、ひとりひとりは、「ある年齢」レベルに達し、リエゾンで成し遂げてきたことの価値を
享受し、気づくことになるであろう。　これまで追究し、行動してきた結果は、

やがて自分に巡ってくる 理があったことを
