This is a homepage for Oe Kenzaburo lovers. The name of this homepage is 'Oe Kenzaburo Fan Club', however , it is not a real fan club. This is my personal homepage, and unofficial homepage. This page has nothing with Mr.Oe or any publishers.
Unfortunately I can not use English enough, so this page is poorer than Japanese version. But I will raise this page little by little. I welcome your mail and I want to insert your message into this page, if you allow it.

2005/10 Oe has published "Sayounara, Watashi no Hon yo!" in Japan

The title means "Good bye, My Books!".

2003/11 Oe has published "Nihyakunen no kodomo" in Japan

The title means 200 years child. This book is his first (and last, maybe) fantasy novel.

2003/9 Oe has published "'Atarasii hito' no houe" in Japan

E collection on essay. The title means Toward the New Man.

2003/5 Oe has published "Bouryoku ni sakaratte kaku" in Japan

A collection of letters. The title means Write against Violence.

2002/9/25 Oe has published new novel UREIGAO NO DOUJI in Japan

This novel is a continuation of TORIKAEKO(Changeling). The title means a sad-faced child.

2002/5/22 Oe received "L'ORDRE NATIONAL DE LA LEGION D'HONNEUR"

Oe received "L'ORDRE NATIONAL DE LA LEGION D'HONNEUR"(The NATIONAL ORDER Of the LEGION Of HONOR) from France.

2001/6 Oe has published a new book

Oe has published a collection of literary jottings "JIBUN NO KI"NO SITADE(Under the "my tree") in Japan.

2000/12/5 Oe has published new novel TORIKAEKO(Changeling) in Japan

This novel's motif is  ITAMI Juzo's die. Mr. Oe has described a long relationship since teen age between ITAMI and him . 

2000/6/8 Oe received honorary degree from the Harvard University

As Japanese, Mr. Ozawa Seiji, Music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1973, received honorary degree, too. What Mr. Oe received was Doctor of Letters and what Mr. Ozawa received was Doctor of Music.

2000/3 Oe came back to Japan

1999/11/20 Oe gone to Berlin to teach at the Berlin Free University

1999/6/10 Oe has published new novel CYUGAERI

1998/1/29 "Seiji-syounen sisu" was published by Italian publisher without leave permission.

"Seiji-syounen sisu" is a work of Mr. Oe Kenzaburo in 1961, but it have not published yet by the pressure of right-wing organization. Because this story deal with the real right-wing boy who killed a left-wing statesman ASANUMA Inejiro in 1960.
According to Asahi shinbun, the Italian publisher Marsilio said they misunderstand the contract with agent of Mr. Oe.

1997/12/20 ITAMI Juzo killed himself

On Dec. 20, Mr. ITAMI Juzo killed himself by jumping from the roof of the building. Mr. ITAMI Juzo was a friend of Mr. Oe since school days, a brother-in-law of Mr. Oe, and a famous movie director.

1997/8/23 Oe to Lecture at Budapest

According to Asahi news paper, Mr. Oe will go to Budapest and give a lecture inan academic meeting.

1997/5/23 Oe came back Japan

Mr.Oe came back to his country Japan on May 23, 1997.

1997/2/4 Oe to Lecture at Princeton Japanese school on Feb. 16, 1997

Mr. Kenzaburo Oe will present a lecture for PCJLS on Feb. 16 (Sun). He is a visiting professor in the Department of East Asian Studies , Princeton. He is giving a lecture to PCJLS students and parents in Japanese. Please do not miss this extraordinary opportunity and invite anyone who is interested in coming.

1996/10/31 Oe signed on a open letter demanding China to release a Chinese activist of democratization.

(Sorry, I can't translate this news in detail because of my English ability. Do you knows a name of that Chinese activist? If so, please tell me it. I know his name as Chinese characters, but not as English.)

You can meet Oe Kenzaburo in Borders bookstore in the World Trade Center on Friday November 22 at 6:00 PM.

1996/8/13 Oe went to U.S.A.

On 10th August, Oe went to New Jersey for teaching in Princeton univ. He will stay there for a year. He said he will start to write a new novel.

1996/7/15 Oe talked about the resumption of writing activity.

In an interview of Oe with a newspaper (the Asahi-shinbun), Oe talked about the resumption of writing activity. He stopping his writing activity from the year before last, but now he practicing new writing style for next work.
